TUBING

Floating down river to a medley…
…of clear rushing water and a scene of steep wooded mountainsides is relaxing meditation, as more and more visitors to the New River Valley are discovering. Tubers riding the rapids.Tubers riding the rapids.
Several tubers enjoy a relaxing float down the New River. The river will draw you, gently and peacefully, as you float over small riffles in your tube. About a mile down stream the rapids are splashing. Ride the rapids a few times then visit Big Falls Park, where the park grills will be hot and ready for cooking, and where the free shuttle bus waits to take you back for another river ride. A lazy, inner tube drift down a mile of pristine river cupped in a tree-lined mountain valley provides the perfect escape from a hot summer day.

There is ice, coolers and cooler tubes available when you rent your tube.

There are two beaches where tubers can choose to exit the river. One located before the rapids and one located after. The shuttle bus stop is located on Big Falls Park. You will find a silver call box there that you can use to page the bus whenever you need it.

You can take as many trips down the river as time permits. The last time a tube can leave the Junction is 5 p.m. and must be turned in by 6 p.m.
